NEW YORK -- The Phillies have issued a new lineup for today’s game at Citi Field against the New York Mets. Catcher Carlos Ruiz, originally slated to hit cleanup, has been pulled due to right hamstring tightness.

“We’re just being cautious with it,” said Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock. “(Brian) Schneider will catch and it’s a day to day thing.”

Proefrock said he thought Ruiz hurt his hamstring during Sunday’s 8-3 loss in St. Louis

“He stayed in (the game) and we took look this morning and decided to take him out of the lineup and give him another day off,” Proefrock said.

Ruiz, was originally slated to bat cleanup. Now Shane Victorino is batting fourth.

“It’s no big deal,” Victorino said. “Nothing will change.”

Here is the new lineup.

1. Jimmy Rollins, SS

2. Placido Polanco 3B

3. Hunter Pence, RF

4. Shane Victorino, CF

5. Ty Wigginton, 1B

6. John Mayberry Jr. LF

7. Freddy Galvis, 2B

8. Brian Schneider, C

9. Cole Hamels, P

Victorino clean-up? I am glad I won't be able to watch the game. I hope Cole can throw a no hitter!

Brian Schneider starting against a lefthander. There's a guaranteed 0-4 right out of the gate. Why don't they give Kratz a chance to play?

Kratz won't play cause Charlie is too stubborn to make changes. He rather give a guy that will be 0-4 than someone who actually has a chance.

If we can try Vic at cleanup, we can certainly move Stroll down to 8th in the lineup. Except Stroll plays the tune, and Chollie dances to it.

And y'all think Cholly is doing a bad job? Halladay...OUT....Worley....OUT....Utley.....OUT.....Howard.....OUT.....Chooch....OUT....Herdon/Stutes...OUT.....Nix.....OUT.....Martinez....OUT. Cholly has used tape, glue, and bubble gum to put a line up out each and every day. One game over .500 and 6 games out of 1st. Not too shabby. Will this M.A.S.H. unti every close down and get people back on the roster ready to play?

Yikes, outside of Polanco, 1-6 at this point is a close automatic out. Looks like it'll be another struggle for Hamels to have to pitch perfect.

Hope Cole pitches well today, but he might be due for a clunker. It happens, so be prepared. Anytime Ruiz is out I expect the starting pitcher to have a pedestrian game.

Hamels sees the future and it's not with the aging, broken down Phils. He's the only great(and young) starter left on this staff and will aoon be getting contract offers starting at $150 Million.

Start shopping Victorino. My lineup for today: Pierre 7> Galvis 4> Pence 9> Mayberry 7> Luna 3> Fontenot 5> Rollins 6> Schneider 2> Hamels 1.

Instead of just bashing Schneider why not check out his numbers as of late. The guy has actually been doing well.

I hope Hamels pitches his best game of the year because they are going to need it. I agree with Farley that Hamels will sign elseware. Too many injuries with this aging team. The only good thing about these injuries we are getting to see some new players called up. Diekman has been good so far and looking forward to see a new starter give it a shot. Hope Doc heals fast and it's only a strain.

The reason Kratz isn't playing today is because he is down in AAA. One would think some of the know-it-alls would read an article once in a while.

I like that they pulled Ruiz. Why didn't they rest Halliday as it turns out he felt the shoulder at the last outing.
Same for Nix, a calf strain that turned into DL because Charlie said he can pinch hit.
Does the medical staff have any input?
