Halladay to have shoulder examined Tuesday

NEW YORK - A Phillies team official said that Roy Halladay will have his injured shoulder examined tomorrow, but the details are still being worked out.
He has to wait until tomorrow because of the Memorial Day holiday.
According to the team, it is not yet known whether Halladay will be examined in New York or return to Philadelphia. Halladay is with the team in New York for today’s opening of the three-game series with the Mets at Citi Field.
The righthander had to leave after the second inning of Sunday’s 8-3 loss in St. Louis with soreness in the back of his right shoulder.
Halladay took the loss on Sunday, allowing a first-inning grand slam to Yadier Molina. He was lifted after two innings by pitching coach Rich Dubee and Halladay told reporters afterwards he felt it was the right call.
Halladay is 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA this season.

Regardless of his 'personal day' and what that meant, his shoulder has been an issue since Spring Training. The drop in velocity makes it clear. A competent staff would have done this in spring training because his velocity was down significant.

- Wow. Since you guys clearly travel with the team and talk to Doc on a daily basis you must have more insight than anyone else on what's going on with his shoulder. It's a small wonder Ruben hasn't promoted you guys to Asst. GM yet & gauged your thoughts on who he should call up should someone have to go on the DL.— thomaspfoolery

Halladay said he first felt soreness "about halfway through" his previous start against the Washington Nationals.
However, Dubee indicated that Halladay's soreness dates from beyond his last start.
"Yeah, it's been an issue," Dubee said. "It's been there. It's been lingering. Some days it's better than others."
This team has become a comedy of errors. Two grand slams in a week's time? And just look at the published photos of Halladay. He looks totally gassed after pitching a couple of innings. What the powers to be have spoon fed us the past several years is what great shape Doc is in, how conscientious he is with his training regimen, all the hours he spends looking at films of the at bats of opposing batters, yadda, yadda, yadda. If all of that is true, how do you explain a 4-5 record, a 3.98 ERA and MAYBE two quality starts out of about 8 or 9.— pajamas

- Doc may have the best work ethic in history, but he's a human being made of skin and bones just like us. It sounds like he's worn something out, hopefully he just needs some rest but give the guy a break. It's not his fault Ruben Amaro doesn't know how to build at team that can score enough runs in a hitters park and he has to be perfect every time he takes the mound. I'd be tired too pitching behind this pathetic offense.
- The Phillies are old. They were old last year, and except for Galvis they are older this year. What the heck do people expect. In baseball, young teams win and old teams get rebuilt. Rubin waited 2 years too long, and the team and the fans are paying the price.

How about this stat- The Phillies are the best road team in the NL. As a team the Phillies have scored more runs than than the Nationals, Indians and Reds; 2 fewer than the Rays and 5 fewer runs than the Dodgers--- all division leaders.

- @Repub.....that's the problem with the Garcia trade, the Phils DID NOT check him out before, during or after the trade. They have since changed their tune and now check out everybody.
Doc might be seeing Dr. David Altchek (Mets MD) in NY tomorrow. He rebuilt Johan Sanatana's shoulder capsule. No piotycher has ever recovered from that surgery to pitch again and Santana is doing pretty well. He is right up there with Dr. Jimmy Andrews and will give him an excellent opinion on Doc's shoulder. I do fear the worst though. I don't think this is a 2 week DL thing. I hope I'm wrong.— Mark1npt
