I keep asking this question: what is going to happen with the Phillies broadcast teams? Is McCarthy still going to do the full 9 innings on TV? I understand why that happened last year, after losing Harry, but they have to change that this year. Harry never broadcast the whole 9 innings on TV, so why should McCarthy do it? He's horrible! He can't stop talking! And with Wheeler, wow, it's deadly. Will they consider bringing Franzke and LA onto TV, at least for a few innings? What's the word, Andy? Anything going to change this year?

I totally agree - McCarthy shouldn't do all nine innings on TV. The front three/back three would be fine. It's time for Franzke to be given a shot for middle inning duty. Give L.A. and/or Sarge the field level mic. I for one am hoping for a tweak this season.

Completely agree about Franzke. He's the best of the whole crew & deserves a shot at some TV time.

Hire Bill Stern and Harry Wismer to do three innings each and finish up with Bob Prince. Join the ABW* bandwagon . * Anyone But Wheels.

Please NO SARGE!! It's bad enough listening to him talk about his steriod using son when he was with the Angels. We don't need to hear him talk about him playing for those losers up in NY.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
