Monday, January 19, 2009, 11:07 AM
UPDATED: 12:50 p.m. The Phillies have wrapped up a deal with Ryan Madson, according to sources, although an announcement isn't likely today in part because of MLK day. I'm still trying to figure out exact terms of the deal, though three-years and $12 million has been reported elsewhere. Still trying... Read more

Friday, January 16, 2009, 5:16 PM
I don't think this will really have much affect on J.C. Romero, but it does add an interesting twist to the story: according to both Yahoo Sports and Baseball Prospectus, the makers of the supplement that Romero took prior to testing positive for the banned substance androstenedione was raided today... Figured I'd take some time out of my busy offseason schedule (Towels folded? Check. Kitchen Cleaned? Check.) to update you with a few odds and ends that are percolating today. 1) Anthony Hewitt will be in spring training. As is the custom with the Phillies', they'll have last year's top draft pick... Read more

Dissecting the Burrell Move

Monday, January 5, 2009, 4:16 PM
About an hour ago, I received a text message from a buddy of mine who also happens to be a Boston Red Sox fan. It read, "The Rays signing Pat Burrell to a two-year deal? Great for us." I don't agree. In fact, I think Burrell is the perfect piece for the Rays line-up, and I think that they... Read more
