Nix activated from the disabled list
The last time Laynce Nix was active for a game, the Phillies were 14-18 and a mere five games out of first place in the National League East. Who knew that those would be the glory days of the 2012 season? Anyway, Nix has been activated from the disabled list, where he has spent nearly three months recovering from a calf strain that he suffered on May 9 while running out a pinch-hit single.

Nix was one of the offensive stars of the early going, hitting .326/.392/.587 with two home runs, 11 RBI and seven run-in 51 plate appearances before his injury.
To make room for him on the roster, the Phillies designated Jason Pridie for assignment.
Why Pridie and not Mayberry? dfc5632
Indeed, why Pridie and not Mayberry ? phineas
Sure glad Ruben has Nix locked up for next year. What a find he has been in those 51 at bats this year! Dull
At the beginning of 2012 spring training, i along with many
Phils Phans thought that Mayberry has finally arrived and
would be a big part of the team. It looks like we were all
wrong. I think he should have been sent down instead of Pridie.
In the off season he had Sheffield turtoring him on the art
of hitting. Looks to me like Sheffield really screwed him up. associate
Mayberry only had two home runs today. Send him down. ronin32
3 months for a strained calf? Good thing he doesn't work for a living! Ssteve115
Well, now all those people know why Pridie and not Mayberry. Those were bombs! drbob1
Manuel, Dubee, and Mackanin have been together for years; most of them good years with the Phillies. This year they all seem to have forgotten how to do their jobs. Dubee has hesitated in pitcher changes so that games that should be wins became losses. Mackanin has not done well in positioning the infielders. All too oftebn they are out of position and out of sync. Simple grounders become adventures. And Manuel, he has made some of the most unique, imaginative moves that leaves one scracthing their head. Perhaps change is needed. Fire Dubee and Mackanin and bring in new people as pitching coach and bench coach: two names come to mind - Rick Sutcliffe as pitching coach and Ryne Sandberg as bench coach. Let Manuel finish out his contract in 2013 and then make any decision regarding a managerial change. Ryno Rooter
If anybody should get fired it should be Greg Gross. Not those three. georgekissel
Gregg Gross should stay. In 2011 the Phillies stats were:
BA .253 OBP .323 SLG .395 OPS .717! For 2012 the stats are:
BA .259 OBP .314 SLG .401 OPS 3715. As one can see those stats are very much in line with not only 2011; but for Gross's tenure as the Phillies hitting coach. Hitting has not been their problem near as much as pitching and defense.
