Worley looking to unseat Kendrick?

POSTED: Monday, September 6, 2010, 1:06 PM

We're just about to get underway here at Citizens Bank Park, where the big question right now is how well rookie righthander Vance Worley will pitch, and whether he'll give the Phillies any reason to consider making a change to their rotation.

Kyle Kendrick is 1-3 with a 7.84 ERA in his last four starts. But right now, the young righty is scheduled to make only three more starts this season. His next one is on Saturday against the Mets at Citi Field, where he held New York to one run on six hits in 6.2 innings of a 3-1 Phillies win on Aug. 15.

His other two starts would likely come on Sept 18 and 28, one at home against the Nationals, and one on the road against the Nationals.

In addition to Worley, the Phillies have called up lefties Nate Robertson and Mike Zagurski.

Roy Oswalt will start the night cap of this day/night doubleheader against Anibal Sanchez, who has pitched well against the Phillies and who is 11-8 with a 3.14 ERA overall.

Nancy Pelosi pitching lefthanded could unseat Kendrick right now. And somebody tell Chad Durbin we're in a pennant race.

Fifth pitcher, sure, but an ERA of almost eight runs per game doesn't cut it.

the .only time KK pitches well is when he's in fear for his job or ticked off because he was sent down. So, send him down or sit him down. Maybe he'll get some fire in him for a couple more games, which is all we need. Next year, hope we see him in Seattle or Cleveland.

Hey Murph - what about writing one of your deeply statistical, analytical columns that breaks down the Phils and Braves pluses and minuses and chances from here on out?

Pelosi could never figure out the change of pace, and she prefers dealing exclusively from the left side.

this team needs an infusion of new blood,If Worley is the best they have--so be it. Howard needs to sit against good left handed pitching-his strikeouts are embarrassing. damm-i would hate to be signing that 25 million dollar check next year---jus sayin

richweb: Howard is the best RBI man in baseball. If you would not pay this guy, who would you pay? Thankfully you are not running the Phillies. They will go as far as Howard takes them.

Time to destroy another young pitchers confidence,Cholly and his faithful sidekick Bubba Dubee have completed the KK project completely, luckily Hamels has tuned both of them out completely. Myers and Happ have moved and will prosper in another setting as will KK when they discard him. Vance, get your eyeglasses cleaned as it appears your next. Get an EZ Pass for next season son you'll need it.
