The team may miss their window of opportunity to get good returns if they hold on too long hoping against hope that they can pull off a miracle and make it to the playoffs.

The housecleaning needs to start with Rollins, Victorino and sadly Chase Utley.

They are crying out for speed and new blood. This team has become old and stale.

@Anything_Philly_is4me: It is the incompetence of Cholly. In the past his "questionable" decisions were overlooked because Utley or Howard or Werth would hit a 3 run blast and win the game. They don't have that now and Cholly has to actually manage...he can't.

I know he's only played one game for the Phils, but this guy Pridie impressed me as very talented. Time will tell, but he deserves watching. I love Victorino, but his time in Philly is over. And Pence? Don't understand him at all. Third base needs a good fielding slugger. It's rebuilding time for the Phils. It was due.

First to worst, best to least. There were warning signs in the last 2 seasons, but they always managed to get on a streak and make us all forget what we saw during the slump. This season there has been no win streak to cover their faults, especially as they are facing division foes who have been built to beat the Philies starting pitching and outhit them in their own ballpark where they no longer dominate. The long term contracts to players that have no pwer left made Amaro choose to go with shutout style starters but the division has compensated for that (drag out the starters so they are forced to throw strikes, get more power hitters to homer in Philly). Trying to convert this team to small ball did not work when the lineup is full of guys who relied on their power and were not disciplined clutch hitters. This is a long ball hitters ballpark and Amaro needs to convert them back if that is possible give then limits imposed by the long term big money contracts.

Where do they go from here? They play out the season, then go attend their mansions and Lamborghinis and play around during October.

been saying we should get bourn since April. Cheaper, better D, better fit. With the savings from Victorino, Blanton, Polanco we can give Hamels the $22 million he wants + afford a 3B. Only ongoing question is who plays LF. Galvis is super utility guy and with Chase playing 100 games max, plus days off for Rollins and 3B he'll get 80-90 starts. As for where to hit Rollins-let him leadoff and bat Bourn 2nd-like what they've been doing with Pierre

    Sign Hamels.
Bring up Cloyd and put him in the rotation.
Put Blanton and KK in the pen.
Stick Brown in LF and live with it.
    Shop Blanton and Pierre.
    Hit the darn baseball.
..... steps in the right direction.

    1. Get rid of Blanton, Kendrick, Polanco, and Victorino for draft picks and payroll relief. Include anyone else in the pen including Pap.
    2. Give Hamels what he wants. GET IT DONE. Dude delivered a WS.
    3. Entertain offers for Lee, Rollins, and Dom Brown. See if one can return a piece for next year. (LF, 3B, and RP are the focus).
    4. Call me when that's done, I'll be watching the Eagles and Flyers thinking about renewing my season ticket plan or not.

How many 1 run losses or poor defense or just lack of interest from the team before they finally get rid of Cholly? He's TERRIBLE. How low does J-hole's OBP and AVG have to dip before he's not hitting leadoff? How many times does Victorino need to roll over from the left side before he realizes he is no longer a legit switch hitter? How many games before we all are ready for Howard to go back on the DL....FOREVER? How many games before we all reaize Utely is no longer a 3 hole hitter? How many days does Ruiz need to lead the NL in hitting yet can't sniff above the 5 hole on the most pathetic offense in baseball? It better not be more days than fit before July 31st. Blow this disaster up!!

They need to trade away--- this year---Polanco, Rollins, Utley, Howard, Victorino, Lee, Halladay, Blanton, Kendrick, Hamels (because the Phillies will be terrible for 5 years), all of the relievers. Who cares if they lose every game from here on?

In my dreams the Phils unload Howard's contract on LA, Rollins on Atlanta, let the free agents to be walk, and if possible get rid of Papelbon's ridiculous contract. That would free up around 100 million to buy a decent team. Of course it won't happen and 3 years from now we'll be watching Howard, dunlop and all, feebly grounding out and striking out while we talk about what could have been.

For the last few years, The Phillies WENT FOR IT, and this season is a result of putting too much into winning NOW, as compared to planning for the future. They will retool, and they will be back. I remember a survey which asked if the readers would prefer a title and years of mediocrity to a constantly competitive team, and the title-winning team won by a wide margin.
