Video: Where do the Phillies go from here?

Video: The Phillies were swept by the Braves and sit 14 games out of first place in the NL East at the All-Star break. Has Shane Victorino played his last game for the Philies? Season lowlight...made worse by the realization that this reporter is the worst on-camera analyst I've ever seen in my life. I kinda wish my ISP would terminate my service so I could avoid this stuff each and every night. Cuz I can't stop paying attention.......yet.

I dont understand what firing Charlie is going to do. He is not the one who makes this team, he is not the one who strikes out with runners in scoring position, and he is not the one who comes out of the bullpen and blows the game every day. He is simply given the task of managing a depleted roster. We are so quick to forget all the good things he has done with this franchise. We owe it to him to finish the remainder of his contract.

Here it is, how to solve the Phillies woes.
Ship Lee or Cole or both to Texas or LAA for Micheal Olt or Mark Trumbo or both. Over the winter sign Josh Hamilton(with Cole's money), extend Pence, sign Bourn(if he's reasonable). Sign a starter in the neighborhood of Colby Lewis. Give Dom Brown another shot if needed. Giver a minor league pitcher a shot to start if needed. Re-roll the dice on the bullpen. Hope for something like this opening day

Bourn(cf), Rollins(ss), Hamilton(lf,cf), Howard(1b), Trumbo(lf,3b) Utley(2b), Pence(rf) Ruiz(c). Then you can mix and match Dom Brown, Micheal Olt, and such for guys that maybe you can't get.

Somebody get this guy a checkbook and RAJ's job!! I completely agree with you. I would add trading victorino as well (tho his stock is dropping every game) maybe just for a few bucks to play with this off-season. But I agree with Hamels and/or Lee beiing traded, and the Josh Hamilton idea is great. Unlikely, but great.

I am sure teams will be jumping at Lee's huge contract. After this season, he is still owed at least $87.5 Million through 2015.

Sir Rollins would never agree to a Michael Bourn acquisition.

Former ticket salesman, loyal 30 year employee and now club president Dave "I just believe the organization needs and image that's not directly tied to wins and losses" Montgomery isn't going to fire Ruben Amaro and nobody who owns the Phillies cares enough to do anything about Gentleman Dave because that's exactly how they like it. They don't care about wins and losses and as owners in a government protected monopoly they have already

Phil's are done for 2012.Thanks to Amaro's dumb deals. Ed Wade was a better GM than Amaro. Amaro -MUST GO.

I can see getting rid of Charlie because he has no solutions. He does the same thing over and over and expects different results, which do not happen. For example Batting Rollins leadoff and Pierre 2nd is stupid, switch them. Batting Pence 4th for sooooo long when he proved that he does not hit with runners in scoring position. (move pence to 2nd or 6th)Move Rollins to 7th or 2nd.

I don't know why there is such trepidation over trading Hamels. JoeinSouthPhilly has a great idea IMO as far as trades and maneuvers that help the offense by using what is our greatest strength; starting pitching. I know they say that good pitching beats good hitting, but how many World Series rings did the "Phour Aces" win? Or the 3 of them after Oswalt was hurt/done? NONE. in 2008, the playoff rotation was Hamels, Brett Myers, Jamie Moyer, and F.J. Blanton. Granted, our bullpen was lights out, but it was our OFFENSE that was in or darn near the top 3 of every important offensive category in all of baseball, the AL and their silly DH system included. I agree with Joe in the idea that we take the Hamels money and spend it on a superstar hitter, forget about Victorinoand trade him and let the younger/backup guys fight over center, and try to land Bourne and sign Pence as well. We can then hope for the best with Worley and Blanton to have good seasons, Doc to be Doc, try to bring a starter up or get a good deal on a veteran on the wrong side of his prime, then spend money NOWHERE else except making the bullpen better. I can't possibly be the only one sick to my stomach over Cliff Lee's stats vs his record, or that Hamels pitches 8 strong, strikes out 10, and we lose 2-1. I wanna see this team get back to some offensive explosiveness that can give the starters and bullpen some support. If that means trading Lee and Hamels to do it? I am all for it. If the phils won a ring with Blanton, Myers, and a 46-year-old Moyer, we don't have to cry ourselves to sleep over the idea that our starting rotation might not be the best on paper come next April.
