Victorino batting sixth
options
 

Charlie Manuel said last night there was a chance he'd keep Shane Victorino in the lower half of the line-up, and that's exactly what he did.

Gotta be honest - I like today's line-up, and it might not just be a short term answer.

1. Jimmy Rollins SS

2. Chase Utley 2B

3. Pat Burrell LF

4. Ryan Howard 1B

5. Greg Dobbs 3B

6. Shane Victorino CF

7. Jayson Werth RF

8. Geoff Jenkins DH

9. Carlos Ruiz C

    howard should be the DH in AL parks. his fielding is suspect... anyone else think NL teams are at a great disadvantage in AL parks with the DH? i mean, Geoff Jenkins? the DH today is Geoff Jenkins? batting where?

    Can we please, please, please let Chris Coste play two games in a row???? The guy went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs last night (half of our run output, by the way), is now batting .315, and called a shutout last night for Kendrick. What more does this man have to do to get two starts in a row? The over/under on Ruiz GIDPs tonight is 1.5. He will likely ground into one double play in a late-inning, bases-loaded, one out situation to kill or best rally.

    Kev - It's rare for a catcher to play a day game after a night game. Ruiz did it last time out, but usually Manuel rotates them for night/days. Also, let me clarify what I said about not being a short-term answer: I think if Victorino's speed again helps them in the lower half of the lineup, he could see more time there. I think he'll be back in the two hole, maybe even tomorrow. But you saw how his speed helped last night when he dropped that bunt then scored on Coste's hit.

    Ruiz is horrible. I'll never be able to figure out what the team likes about him so much. Having Howard as DH is fine, but who plays 1B then? I'd say Dobbs should be over there. Maybe even Utley and Bruntlett at 2B.

    David - thanks, in my zeal to post another Ruiz rant, I forgot that it was a day game today. Well, let's hope Carlos goes 4-4 with 6 RBIs today! Actually, I'll just take anything other than another late-inning, rally-killing DP...
