Utley makes another rehab start
Daily News staff
Chase Utley was 0-for-3 in this second rehab start for Clearwater in a 6-0 loss to Lakeland Sunday afternoon.
He grounded into a doubleplay in the first inning, grounded out in the third and flew out in the fifth before leaving the game — as scheduled — after seven innings.
He also committed a fielding error in the first inning.
The Phillies are hoping that Utley will play in one, or perhaps both games, of a scheduled doubleheader Monday and then will decide whether to bring him back to the big leagues.
The Giants are in town for a pivotal three-game series beginning Tuesday night.

utley is not even close to being ready to return. bill on the hill
Comment removed.- doesn't sound encouraging. Ryan
- @Bill on the Hill, I don't think so either.Utley is such a gamer that he will lie, cheat, and/or steal to get back no matter how he feels.I love him for that but at the same time I don't want to see him make matters worse for himself by coming back TOO soon. GO PHILS!!!
The Phils have done remarkably well without Utley and Howard. Let's hope they use good sense and not bring him back into the Phils' lineup until he's ready. craigaa52

Even though I'll be at Tuesday's game,I don't want to see him struggling vs Zito. bigeastbeast
If Wilson valdez sucks then how bad is Jroll????? Valdez is hitting for higher average and I think has 1 more HR than the best frontrunning leadoff hitter in Phillies history..... Mark1npt
I hope the phight's have sense enough to make Chase wait till he's 100% tobyjoe
valdez has done very well. a great pick for the team. excellent defense with great arm.do not rush chase. jstash
People think that Valdez needs to ht .300 with 30 HRs and 100 RBIs, its really no use in arguing with those people..they know squat. The big thing for Utley will be getting the timing and speed of the game back. Finish up in A-Ball and move him up to a few games at AAA level then bring him up. ESFjellin

Valdez is doing decent. I don't think you can get around the fact that Utley will not be productive day 1 or maybe even day 5. He's not played baseball for 1 1/2 months, and before that he was in a terrible slump. It will take a while. fmMD
Dobbs gets a start? Absolutely unbelievable. Why not give Ibanez a chance to play 1st for a couple games against RHP, and start Brown in left? That would be the fastest outfield in baseball. twothousandeight
Dobbs is a good guy, good in the clubhouse, good knowing his job for the team (on the bench, not whining about not being starter) and he helped Charlie win a WS, that goes a long way in baseball...those bonds are like cement. However, he has stunk for 2 whole years now and that's plenty of loyalty shown by Charlie....this may be Dobbs' final chance to salvage his Phillies career before the Phils activate a few players this week and ship out a few to make room.....
