Utley back and batting second
David Murphy, Daily News Staff Writer
Chase Utley is back in the line-up, although he is hitting second instead of his usual spot at third. Charlie Manuel is going for balance. The Reds have tough lefty Bill Bray in the bullpen. Hard-throwing Cuban Aroldis Chapman is on the disabled list. He has been replaced by Matt Maloney, who was dealt to the Reds by the Phillies in the Kyle Lohse trade.
- Jimmy Rollins SS
- Chase Utley 2B
- Placido Polanco 3B
- Ryan Howard 1B
- Raul Ibanez LF
- Carlos Ruiz C
- Domonic Brown RF
- John Mayberry Jr. CF
- Cole Hamels LHP

Utley is back, thank god. Julius May
I know its only his first game back and i don't anticipate a significant immediate impact, but i already feel better about this lineup's potential, especially with the return of Victorino at some point soon. CosmoK
It just looks much better than it has, not saying that that means anything. Living_Legend
Ruiz 6th is a big change. Manuel's pulling out all the stops now. Utley or not, they are due to drop a 10 spot on someone. (Then get shutout three straight games). tripleplay83
They have only been shut out 3 times bro. woliii
I like Ruiz getting closer to the 5 spot...I think eventually hitting 5th is the best spot for him...with Victorino leading off and moving Rollins to 8th...in due time danielboyer
Moving Mayberry to 8th should tell him what Cholly & the organization thinks about his efforts. He must be on the way out if they can get someone better. sonnybuoy01
Drop Rollins to 6th or 7th. He's not a leadoff guy. I've never seen anyone as bad as him. Its always a pop up on the first pitch. Put Polanco first.
Bruno Sammartino
Mayberry is one of the few guys who looks at pitches. He hits the ball hard and seems to have a clue. Rollins should be hitting 8th. Johnnyboyl
Now, if only Charlie can resist the urge to re-order the first four hitters for the rest of the year, and has the sense to bat victorino 5th when he comes back. ea
@Bruno Sammartino....First time I have heard the suggestion of moving PP to leadoff. I LIKE it! I sorta sniffed at it when I first read it...then took a minute to REALLY think about it. WOW!...anything (realistic) that moves Rollins out of the leadoff spot would be good. This idea sounds REALLY good. TBear- Utley's back, Cole has pitched very well against the Reds, Arroyo not so well against the Phils. Plus the Reds are struggling, having lost 5 straight. I like our chances tonight even if we don't get a lot of hits. s
Vic, Uts, Poly, Howard, Chooch, Ibanez/Fransciso/Mayberry (pick 2), Rollins DennyP
@danielboyer - I agree. Ruiz hits over .300 for his career when he hits 7th or higher in the line-up.

So I look forward to the Phils getting 5 hits tonight? farley
