Agreed. Good showing, DMurph. BTW - great shout-outs to you, Murphy, on TV last night. Wheeler (who is awful) and McCarthy made reference to your stats about Rollins, and the historical background on slow starts to strong finishes. Can you now please get Andy Martino fired? Please??? Philth

DR Heller and vinceabs, it's one of the main characters from the movie "The Sandlot". He steals home as an adult at the end of the movie. That is probably my all time favorite baseball movie, one of the few films that I LOVED as a kid that doesn't seem lame now when I watch it as an adult. Because of that movie "YOU PLAY BALL LIKE A GIRL!" was the most common insult amongst my circle of friends. Good one Murph! vetlincbank
Thank you, vetlincbank. I knew it had to be a movie character but had no clue who. I'll have to rent that movie, I'd forgotten about it. There are some good baseball movies. gbrettfan
For those who are wondering to what this "column" is referring, the photo above is of a character from the movie, "The Sandlot". Mike Vitar played Bennie "the Jet" Rodriguez in the movie; Rodriguez steals home in a scene at the end of the movie. This column demonstrates one of the general rules of comedy or trying to do something "cutesy" as entertainment: if it has to be explained because much of the audience doesn't get it, it's not that entertaining. Maybe JWerth got his extra propulsion during the off-seasons here in central Illinois at the Cozy Dog Drive Inn near his off-season home...that might be funny to the .00001 percent of those who've been to that establishment, but since it'd have to be explained to the majority of those reading it here, it's not entertaining. All you folks hatin' on Andy... Read his real stuff, not just his blog. His blog isn't even on the same plane as Zo's but his actual stories are up to snuff. shayrod
