Schneider to catch Worley again, Phillies lineup

POSTED: Saturday, April 14, 2012, 12:20 PM

With lefthander Jonathon Neise on the mound for the Mets, the Phillies will shift to virtually the same lineup that they used the other night against the Marlins' Mark Buehrle.

The only change is that catcher Carlos Ruiz has the day off, so Brian Schneider gets the start. Schneider will hit eighth, bumping Feddy Galvis up a spot.

Schneider caught 18 of Vance Worley's 25 starts last season and has started both of Worley's outings this year. He has now caught every Worley start since last July.

Manager Charlie Manuel, however, had objected to the idea that Schneider is Worley's personal catcher. He says Schneider is playing because it is a day game after a night game.

Neise, who signed a big contract in the offseason, allowed three earned runs and two hits in six innings in his first start of the season, a win over at Atlanta. He walked four and struck out seven.

Worley got a no-decision Sunday in Pittsburgh, allowing a run and five hits in six innings.

Here is the Phillies lineup for today:

Victorino, CF
Polanco, 3B
Rollins, SS
Pence, RF
Mayberry, LF
Wigginton, 1B
Galvis, 2B
Schneider, C
Worley, P

He belongs on a bus out of town, not in the starting lineup

Day game after night game hogwash....Schneider can't hit righties, now Charlie just assured Niese of 4 more easy outs in todays game. That leaves us 23 more to do our damage with. Ruiz could and should have started today.

Wow. I agree with all of you. This Schneider thing has got to stop. Is Worley incapable of pitching to anyone else? Chooch is hot ! No ?

Best News I heard this year. Amaro /Manuel only changes their thinking when they get first Social Security check.

totally agree, Schneider should have played last night vs RH pitcher...why start him vs lefty when he never sees them. Worley will be fine throwing to chooch. Or better yet do the right think and bring Erik Kratz up so we actually have some pop at catcher when chooch is out of the lineup. Eat the 700k, offense is whats needed here. Worley did well because he knows how to pitch, not because of Schneider.

Schneider needs to go. He doesn't have any talent.

With that line-up tickets should be half-priced. Any speaking of tix, I see a sea of blue in the upper deck. No mention of the sellout streak from the 2 Stooges on Comcast.
