Rockies make Jamie Moyer an offer

Jamie Moyer has been offered a minor league contract by the Colorado Rockies, a source confirmed to the Daily News.
The source said Moyer could be awaiting an offer from another team as well.
Moyer, who turned 49 in November, spent the last 4 1/2 of his 24 major league seasons with the Phillies. Moyer, 267-204 lifetime with a 4.24 ERA, was 56-40 for the Phillies, including 16-7 when they won the World Series in 2008.
Moyer was 9-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 2010 but had elbow ligament surgery and missed last season. Since rehabbing, he has been working out in hopes of pitching again.
The Denver Post, which first reported the story, indicated that would be brought in to compete for a rotation spot and help tutor the young pitchers on the Colorado staff.
Also, the Rockies traded outfielder Seth Smith to Oakland for righthander Guillermo Moscoso and lefthander Josh Outman, a former Phillies prospect who was sent to the Athletics in the Joe Blanton trade.

The news Dean1959 is that they let a moron like you post. 267 career wins and hi is a lifetime failure...I wish I were that much of a failure... ceocreates
Some guys will do anything to get out of the house. Bob1
I think the Phils should find a spot for him. Yep, that's what I think. Uh huh, yep, yessir. SeanMan
I think we'll see Jamie pitch in the bigs again. Just because he's proven everyone wrong his entire career. You will not find a better guy to have on your team. I too would like to see him back home as part of the Phillies organization once he hangs it up. s
Best to you Jamie.....go easy on the Phils! Lynnwood
I like Moyer and wish him the best. However, as Charles Barkley says - Father Time is undefeated. rustypop58
From one of the articles:
"14 of the players on Colorado's 40-man roster were not born when Moyer debuted with the Cubs in June of 1986." s
The rockies have a "geriatric claus" in this offer whereby he has to have Purina before each game and one trip to the casino each month. Bill E. Penn
Would hate to see Moyer take all of that knowledge somewhere else. Trident252
I wish him the best. Who's to say he can't? But me, I'd like to see him back here coaching one day, I think he's going to be a great pitching coach. PhillySubsMac
Forget playing...Moyer is a first class person with a great baseball resume. He would be an EXCELLENT addition to any major league club in the role of a manager or coach. The Phillies should be so lucky to land him.
Now, fire Chris Wheeler and the dead rat on his head!!! kelprod2
