Jamie Moyer has been offered a minor league contract by the Colorado Rockies, a source confirmed to the Daily News.

The source said Moyer could be awaiting an offer from another team as well.

Moyer, who turned 49 in November, spent the last 4 1/2 of his 24 major league seasons with the Phillies. Moyer, 267-204 lifetime with a 4.24 ERA, was 56-40 for the Phillies, including 16-7 when they won the World Series in 2008.

Moyer was 9-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 2010 but had elbow ligament surgery and missed last season. Since rehabbing, he has been working out in hopes of pitching again.

The Denver Post, which first reported the story, indicated that would be brought in to compete for a rotation spot and help tutor the young pitchers on the Colorado staff.

Also, the Rockies traded outfielder Seth Smith to Oakland for righthander Guillermo Moscoso and lefthander Josh Outman, a former Phillies prospect who was sent to the Athletics in the Joe Blanton trade.

Great....now who can we get who's lefthanded to throw those sloppy 58 foot curveballs to Howard while he's rehabbing from his injury? Jamie was the key to the Big K's breakout 2012 season.....

If we can't lure Jamie to make Ryan better against lefties, how about drafting his next son Hutton (that clan is really the Brady Bunch), and make him the minor league pitching coordinator...obviously with intentions of moving him along thru the ranks...He can tutor and mentor the prospects, as well as the organization's pitching coaches...while his son, a second basemen, plays for pay.

First Bowker, now Geritol Jamie. Where does it end? Oh, the humanity.

Jamie Moyer is probably the BEST active pitcher/coach in the game. Whatever the Rockies offer him, the Phillies should increase the offer just to keep him in house and in-line for a coaching job once his pitching career ends. I know he loves pitching and hope he's fully recovered and can finish his amazing career on the field with grace and success. I just hope he finishes his one-field career with the Phils. Good luck Jamie!

Agree! I'd love to see Moyer in a coaching/mentor role and stay in Philadelphia.

Nothing against Moyer but I can't see him ever pitching another MLB game.

Best of luck to Jamie. He did so much for this city, both on and off the field. He is a class act and hopefully can win a spot in Colorado's rotation. Moyer will make a great pitching coach, hopefully in Philly, down the line.

WHY IS MANUEL STILL HERE? This so-called "hitting guru" doesn't have the stones to enforce a more disciplined approach by this group of hackers, so in 2012, GOOD pitching (like what is found on playoff teams) will once again neutralize this bunch. So what if the Phillies have won X amount of games and have appeared in the last 5 post-seasons? The 1960 Yankees fired Casey Stengel after the team lost the World Series, and after all the pennants and championships Stengel collected. It's all about improving the team to get over the hump - that goes for players AND coaching!

WHY DIDN'T THEY SIGN MADSON instead of bringing in Papalbon at %6 mil more? Oh wait, that's completely OT too...sorry.

oh Jman. I couldnt disagree with you more. Look at the cardinals...look at the NY Giants( ie, a 9-7 team in different sport)...the key is to get in and after that, its baseball...the difference between winning a game here or there is so slight....if Ibanez had centered his fly ball just a tad bit more in game 5, phillies win the game and have a great shot at the series. ill take a team that wins 100+ and makes the post season every year....and hopefully they snag another WS or two as it happens. Im not saying the phillies dont have flaws but tossing the manager aside or being so willing to ignore how good the team was duirng the regular season is absurd.
