Report: Phillies interview Orioles amateur scouting director

POSTED: Tuesday, October 11, 2011, 4:14 PM

The Baltimore Orioles may be looking at the Phillies to fill a front office opening. And vice-versa.

It's believed that Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock is on the O's list of potential general manager candidates after Andy McPhail stepped down. They have not asked for permission to talk to Proefrock yet, sources said, but that could happen after a scheduled meeting between owner Peter Angelos and manager Buck Showalter today.

Before joining the Phillies, Proefrock worked for three years as the Orioles director of baseball administration. He still lives in Phoenix, Maryland.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Sun reports that the Phillies have already interviewed Orioles amateur scouting director Joe Jordan for the player development opening created when Chuck LaMar abruptly resigned in September.

Jordan, 49, has been in his current position for the past seven years.

Where did the Orioles finish up this year? That's what I thought. Here comes the penny-pinching.

maybe the three of you should watch more than the phillies and stop just looking at the standings cuz if you knew anything you would know the quality of hitting that the orioles have. it was their pitching that doomed them not their hitting. And you cant associate one guy with the whole organization. When this guy comes in and brings some better hitting prospects through you can jump on the bandwagon

Uh, the Oriole hitting was free agents like Vlad Guerrero and Mark Reynolds and a trade for Adam Jones. Who on the O's,besides Markakis, was 'player developed' by the team for which we'd want this guy?

We had a lousy ending to our year. Yes, I'm disappointed too, but I'm not going to all negative on the team like some of you losers. Keep the faith!!!

I heard Cholly Manuel say he remembers John McGraw telling him this scout is "really, really good."
