Placido Polanco said today that he anticipates playing in his first rehab outing on Thursday at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Polanco said that he could return to the active roster by Saturday or Sunday. It sounds like he definitely plans on being on the plane when the Phillies embark on a 10-game post-trade-deadline West Coast trip on Sunday.

"I'm feeling a lot better," Polanco said. "I'm a little bit sore from the workouts. Not like before. This is good soreness, from working the muscles."

Polanco has been sidelined since July 5, when the pain in his lower back knocked him out of the line-up. Since then, he has been treated with a series of injections designed to quell the bulging disc in his back.
"I feel like I've been out forever," he said.

The Phillies, however, keep winning.
"If we had been losing, I'd have felt guilty," Polanco said.

Here's today's line-up for the afternoon finale of a four-game series against the Padres. The Phillies are going for the series sweep and their 11th straight victory against San Diego.

1. Jimmy Rollins 6
2. Michael Martinez 5
3. Chase Utley 4
4. Ryan Howard 3
5. Shane Victorino 8
6. Raul Ibanez 7
7. Domonic Brown 9
8. Carlos Ruiz 2
9. Cliff Lee 1
