Some surprising news just came down via press release from the Phillies.

Assistant general manager Chuck LaMar, who has overseen the farm system since Ruben Amaro Jr. took over as GM in late 2008, has resigned.

“We appreciate the contributions Chuck has made to the organization over the past four years,” Amaro said in a statement.  “We wish him the best as he pursues other opportunities.”

LaMar joined the Phillies in October 2007 as the director of pro scouting. He became assistant general manager of player development & scouting in November 2008.
