Phillies to activate Lidge from DL
Daily News staff
Reliever Brad Lidge will be activated from the disabled list in time for tomorrow night’s game against the New York Mets, the Phillies announced.
Lidge, 33, was placed on the disabled list on March 26, while recovering from right elbow surgery. He combined to go 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA with four walks and eight strikeouts in eight rehab appearances between Triple A Lehigh Valley, Double A Reading and Single A Clearwater. After allowing five runs over his first two rehab appearances in 1.2 innings, Lidge pitched 7.0 scoreless innings over his final six appearances.
To make room for Lidge on the 25-man roster, lefthanded pitcher Antonio Bastardo was optioned to Lehigh Valley after yesterday’s game.
This weekend series against the Mets has a Lidge blown save written all over it. power808

Break out the Tums! PhillieJoe
Can I go just a little off topic .. please? Phillippe Aumont of the ill-advised Cliff Lee trade was named pitcher of the week for two outings with an era below 1 in Reading. He was the reason for the trade. Starter or closer he may not make us forget Lee but he will definitely be good. battery

Ownership has their fingers crossed because if this doesn't work out they will be dishing out cash and prospects at the trade deadline. KINGOFZED
At this point, I'm ready to give him a chance. But Lidge, like Romero, is still 2-3 weeks away from top stuff. Biggest worry is we haven't hear ANYTHING on Happ. That's a world of trouble. scootch
Couldn't agree more "bobbyd24"...but I temper the idiocy being posted here with the knowledge that the posters are unemployed, Public School educated dopes and they are not my Doctor or Attorney or Accountant...HaHaHa will_wonders_never_cease- Cool..didn't know that you were an "unemployed, Public School educated dope" by your own admission...
