Phillies release Kline

The Phillies have released Steve Kline, who went 0-2 with a 5.16 ERA in 22 2/3 inning with Triple A Lehigh Valley. Kline, signed two months ago after his release by the Giants, never proved himself to be the reliable lefty the Phillies have been looking for to complement J.C. Romero in the bullpen. He was suspended indefinitely after bumping an umpire during a confrontation Monday.
