Phillies part way with Huppert

POSTED: Sunday, September 5, 2010, 8:51 PM

Just received a note from the Phillies saying that they have opted against renewing the contract of Triple-A manager Dave Huppert, who has been with the organization since 2006.

Huppert filled in as the Phillies' third base coach after Steve Smith was suspended two games in 2008.

Agree... bad headline that is terribly unfair to Mr. Huppert. And, the newspaper people wonder why players/coaches hate them?

would love to see willie randolph hired here and then take over for Cholly some day down the road,....willie randolph is a very, very good baseball man and NY did him wrong, which was good for us being in the same division

Why don't some of you lighten up on the writers. They are not usually the people who write the headlines. Unfortunately, it is all too often someone with scant knowledge of the subject at hand. Frankly I don't see Mr. Murphy being that feckless to make such an error. Dollars to donuts he is the one who caught it.

Yeah, bash the poor guy who screwed up the headline. Like you never put too much salt on the fries at your job.

I think I could cover the Phillies better than Murphy with my eyes closed and just a radio.

Cholly is gonna be around for awhile. At least until the main core of this team, like the next three years minimum is still intact. Who is the idiot that even brought up Willie Randolph. Talk about screwing up a team in a hurry, that would be it.

Juan Samuel would seem like a good replacement for Huppert.
