Phillies and Nomar, again?
Daily News staff
The Phillies had a scout in Anaheim this weekend to take a look at Oakland's Nomar Garciappara, according to report in the San Francisco Chronicle.
The team had discussions with Garciaparra in the offseason. Garciappara, who did not play in the weekend series against the Angels, has cleared waivers, according to the report.
A team source told the Daily News today that the Phillies considered pusuing Garciappara but it is not likely to happen. Today is the last day that players can be added to rosters and still be eligible for the postseason.
Garciaparra has started once in the past 12 games. He is 0 for his past 14 pinch-hit at-bats. He has appeared in 55 games with 129 at-bats, and is hitting .264 with two home runs and 13 RBI.

Also, the Phillies announced that they have selected the contract of righthander John Ennis from Triple A Lehigh Valley. Ennis, who had Tommy John surgery in April, will immediately be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
To make room for Ennis on the 40-man roster, infielder Brad Harman was designated for assignment.
Why?? He doesn't hit. Constantly on DL. Questionable motivation. The only good thing would be Mia. jcybb2nc
Murph, Please ask someone about the Ennis move. He was out most of year with arm woes and is a truly mediocre AAA roustabout pitcher with no real credentials. What is the appeal here ?? 'pigs relief corps had some real contributors this year none of whom was named Ennis. mick314
Why is there a picture of Frodo next to Ryan Howard? vegasflyer

hey scootch wats different with the dodgers pitching?...and last time i checked the giants pitchers albeit two very good ones cain and lincecum never pitched in the playoffs so you dont kno how they would be in that situation...and the cardinals? phils wont face them since they would play the dodgers and no way the cardinals beat the dodgers...so you get out of the NL and into the world series again..already proven they can beat sabathia...took 2 of 3 in new york earlier this year...detroit wont be around that far neither will red sox and the angels..and the only one who has given the phils problems is the sox so less they somehow figure out how to beat the yanks in the second half of the yr it should be phils n yanks and the phils offense is better than yanks pitching..proved it earlier this year and now we have cliff lee too PhillySports23
if it ain't broke why fix it/ keep the guys we got, and win the darn thing for philly, and do it for harry k..........rip .and go phillies! teephilly76

The Ennis move is just a little playoff roster trickery. It allows them to replace him on the playoff roster with any pitcher in the organization as of today (think K-Rod, 2002 - who wasn't recalled until Sept. 15) veritas
Cardinals won't beat the dodgers? Huh? Both the Cards and Giants have TWO (2) Cy Young pitchers on staff. All 4 pitchers have a sub 2.5 ERA. Who did the Phils play last year with that kind of 1-2 punch? Anyone? Anyone? Phils are 3-4 vs Dodgers, 1-3 vs Giants, they did beat the Cards earlier but that was against their bottom order pitchers and before their new acquistions.Act like a boy scout and be prepared....for the big letdown. scootch
Some of you people are really making stupid comments. Wise up Andrewsgvl
