Phillies reportedly trying to reacquire d'Arnaud

The Phillies sent catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud to the Toronto Blue Jays as part of the package that netted Roy Halladay. Now, the Phillies reportedly have interest in getting him back.
The Phillies have discussed "possible ways on how to re-acquire catcher Travis D’Araund from the Jays," according to a report in the Toronto Sun.
The odds on that happening are not very likely. Wrote Bob Elliott, "Good luck."
d'Arnaud had a tremendous season at Double A New Hampshire, hitting .311 with 21 home runs and 78 RBI in 114 games. He was ranked as the fourth-best prospect in the Blue Jays organization by Baseball America before the 2011 season.
The Blue Jays acquired d'Arnaud, former first-round pick Kyle Drabek and Michael Taylor, whom they sent to Oakland, for Halladay before the 2009 season.
Carlos Ruiz can be a free agent after the 2012 season (the Phillies hold a club option for 2013) and the Phillies' catcher of the future is Sebastian Valle, who likely will play at Double A Reading this season.
Valle had .284 with five homers and 40 RBI in 91 games for Clearwater last season.

- Seem lots are giving up on Brown way too early. Still lots of talent there though he looked out of sync after being sent down to AAA. Im with poster who proclaimed were forgetting we got Halladay. Amaro and Phills mgt. knew of d'Arnuad's potential. I read these posts and wonder if posters are aware this is best run in Phills history.— Don w
- This is kind of a funny article. I'm sure there are tons of prospects out there the Phillies would like to have in their system. Without any obvious way to trade for him this is not a story. Trading a proven piece for a minor league prospect at a position the Phillies appear set at for at least 2 years really doesn't fit with their game plan of win now. This is the downside of trading prospects for proven players - many will be busts (and d'Arnaud still may be part of that group, who knows), but some are bound to pan out. That's the gamble. Phillies still have Halladay, I don't think any rationale person would undo that trade.— Phils Phan 28
- I hate to see the 3 for 1 trades that usually don't work. We traded d'Arnaud with Drabick and Taylor (Taylor who by the way was touted as a "can't miss" outfielder and did)for Haladay who was suppose to get us a WS. Didn't happen and 4 yrs later we're ready to ship Haladay out and reacquire d'Arnaud. Let's not sell out the farm system again.— walt1

- Thanks to Rube-the-Boob, the Phillies are stuck. They don't have healthy major league stars in the line-up. The one top prospect they held onto is terrible (Brown). And, the deals the GM gave out to guys (Rollins, Pap, Howard) handcuff them into the future. There is not a team in baseball that would trade for any of those three. Why? Because The Boob bid against himself and overpaid. It's unfortunate. But, until the GM is fired, there is no hope that this gets turned around.
