Pedro Martinez is in New York City doing a promotional tour for Gillette, the men's shaving line.
It's probably the closest he'll get to Yankee Stadium for awhile.
Martinez re-iterated his plan to remain on the sidelines this season, which has been well known for at least the past month. The 38-year-old righthander told the Associated Press that he has turned offers from several teams over the past two weeks.
Martinez signed with the Phillies in July 2009. He went 5-1 with a 3.63 ERA in nine starts down the stretch and helped the Phillies reach the World Series.
Martinez told the Associated Press on Thursday he was “really happy” to receive the latest offers and
called them “very tempting.” He did not say which teams pursued him. Martinez said he will be spending the rest of the year with his kids and going on vacations.
