not to nitpick, but it's the rematch of 2009. Nice to see the Phillies have a shot. Now if only their offense will cooperate.

No if they keep the same hitting philosophy/manager with all those LH hitters in the lineup.

without jayson werth they have no one to hit behid Ryan Howard and that means he gets no pitches and his RBI's will be way down....so if they go cheap (see Dave M) we will not get back to the series or the championship

I'd lay down every cent I have that the Yankees will lose to the Diamondbacks in the 2001 WS...

If I was a bettin' dude, I'd slap a few bucks on the Brewers and Astros just for kicks. If the BrewCrew could pick up some pitching, they would absolutely contend... they remind me of the Phils of a few years back. And if I was nutso crazy insane, I'd be tempted to drop a G on the lovable Orioles too. Just sayin.

Murph must be writing while on vacation. There are more errors here than PA absentee ballots.

When the playoffs got underway, the Phillies were also overwhelming favorites to win the World Series this season, too.

Thank God because I remember the 2001 team being pretty average

If the team gets a real 4th or 5th starter, and a couple relievers who are not just bums, plus an OF who can hold his own after Jayson departs, OK, the Phils should at least be favored to make the NL playoffs. But, that is all.

With Scott Rolen as our starting 3B for this coming 2001 season, I'd say we are definitely going to win the WS. Although I hear the D'backs are pretty good, too.

I noticed no one has mentioned firing the hitting instructor " Greg Gross" due to the Phillie's not hitting in the San Francisco series. They Fired Milt Thompson in season after they won a bunch of playoff games and a world series over three years. The Phillie's had the pitching they needed but no hitting. I still believe with that being said the home plate umpire cost them the first game when he did not call that third strike on Burrell and we lost two games due to Charlie mismanaging Oswalt in two games and the one game we just got shutout from no hitting. So their new hitting coach did absolutely nothing for them, but he still has his job and Milt Thompson does not. Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Yeah, and if Grover Cleveland Alexander from 100 years ago were resurrected and pitching for the Phils again, they'd also win the World Series. if, if, if, if, if. By the way, what do you think Barry Bonds would cost? Since he's been away for a couple of years, I'd bet not much. I'd take a chance on the greatest hitter who ever lived.

Preseason picks mean little in April, much less November. They're gonna need Werth if they want to go to the WS. The Phils need a new closer and a healthy Rollins. Hate to say this, but Rollins has something to prove this season. Can he stay healthy? Can he still spark the team like he used to? Unload Ibanez. Seeing what Domonic Brown's got will be interesting.

If I were a betting man, there's no way I'd bet on the Yanks or Phils making the WS again. These preseason picks are the kiss of death.

Geeze I'm sorry but who cares how many World Championships the Phillies win ON PAPER. Didn't they just finish winning the 2010 Series that way? Junk writing entirely.
