I wasn't blown away by Citi Field. I can't say the same thing about the new Yankee Stadium. They did this place right, and somehow succeeded in making an ultra-modern ballpark feel retro. The most impressive aspect of the new park? It's got to be the giant video board in center field. The thing is huge, and the picture clarity looks better than the flat screen television in my apartment. I haven't had a chance to sample the concessions, but the food in the press box puts everything else in the major leagues to shame. By far the most impressive new park I have been to. I really like Citizens Bank Park, but if I had to cover 81 home games here, I wouldn't complain.

Indications from both Charlie Manuel and Ruben Amaro Jr. are that the Phillies plan on announcing a roster move tonight after the game. Neither would shed any light on if the call-up will be John Mayberry, who did not start at Triple-A Lehigh Valley tonight, the first time that has happened this season.

I expect Mayberry will be up and one of the team's extra relievers will be sent down. The question - has Sergio Escalona impressed enough to warrant keeping around? He has made three appearances, and tossed three scoreless innings. Would the team think about keeping him and sending down Jack Taschner? We'll have to wait and see.

This is a continuation of a 'healthy' debate I had with the great Dr. Heller, like our Mick314 likes to call him, in the previous post. He waited too long to respond to my post, I guess he was in the ER or something: Dr. Heller, I wish I could be as optimistic as you. The problem is not Mariano, is the set up guys. But they just activated Chien-Ming Wang to be in the pen for the time being, who is a not a lefty but won 19 games two seasons in a row and when he is on he is very nasty. I take AJ Burnett (89-77, 3.68 ERA) over Myers (72-62 4.38 ERA) any day of the week. And for Happ giving you 6 or 7 innings, just remember that he hasn’t thrown more than 50 pitches this year. So that’s the equivalent of 3 innings give or take. Against a veteran team like the Yankees it could be less. I’ll be very surprised if Happs throws more that 5 innings. And the Phillies are facing a very good lefty veteran in Andy Pettitte who could give our heavy LH hitting lineup trouble, especially when we our RH DH option could be Chris Coste, unless they call Mayberry, but he is a rookie. Again, you’re very optimistic. Like I said, I’ll be happy with just one win, not because I’m pessimistic, but because of the circumstances. Oh, and the Mets are playing the Red Sox without Delgado after been swept by the Dodgers. BTW, bring Mayberry, he is 26 years old. Time to see if he has what it takes to be a major leaguer. It won't be a high risk, because we have pretty good outfield prospects in the minors (Michael Taylor, Dominic Brown) and a pair of good youg starting outfielders in Victorino and Werth.

The Orioles just released Eaton. He wasn't even good enough to be a #5 pitcher on a last place team. Hahahahaha. I hope he doesn't steal money from any other major league club. He has to have negative VORP.
