Moyer leaves game with elbow strain

 

Lefthander Jamie Moyer left tonight’s game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium with what was described as a “left elbow strain.” No other details were immediately available.

 

The 47-year-old gave up a pair of 2-out singles in the bottom of the first. With the Phillies batting in the top of the second, righthander Andrew Carpenter began warming up in the bullpen in left field.

Moyer had struggled in his last two starts, going 0-2 and allowinbg 13 earned runs in a total of 8 1/3 innings.
