More Tragedy For Phillies

The mood in the Phillies clubhouse was part jubilant, part somber. The same day Phillies manager Charlie Manuel learned his mother had died from complications of a heart attack, center fielder Shane Victorino was informed his 82-year-old grandmother, Irene, had passed away.

A steady stream of well wishers flowed past Victorino locker, offering him hugs and handshakes. Victorino's father, Mike, waited until after the game to inform him of the death. Victorino, who drove in four RBIs in the Phillies' 8-5 win over the Dodgers in Game Two, quickly packed his bags in preparation for the team flight to Los Angeles.

Funeral arrangements for both Victorino's grandmother and Manuel's mother are pending.

Both are expected to make the trip to L.A.

Obviously, we offer condolences to both.
