Manuel reacts to Reyes

Jose Reyes may have laid the next subplot in the every-growing rivalry between the Phillies and the Mets last night when he circled the bases with his index finger raised after a sixth-inning home run last night at Shea. Some Phillies took notice, and Charlie Manuel said yesterday that Reyes has some maturing to do.
"He's a very talented player and he can be one of the best players in baseball," Manuel said. "But at the same time, he's got some growing up to do, and he's got some learning to do."
Ryan Madson, who gave up the home run to Reyes, said he did not notice the short stop's antics on the basepaths. He also said that none of his teammates have approached him about "taking care" of the situation.
But, he did acknowlege that the Mets and Phillies rivalry has grown into a case of two teams who simply don't like each other.
"I would say that's a fair statement," Madson said.
His first at bat today should have been met with a fastball to the ribs (it's Moyer, it wouldn't have hurt that much). That's the old school way....although, come to think of it, he rushes the mound on a 45 year old, it could be a bloodbath....— Reggie Noble
