Manuel: Halladay has groin pull

POSTED: Thursday, October 21, 2010, 11:43 PM

Charlie Manuel announced that pitching ace Roy Halladay suffered a groin pull in the second inning of tonight's game.

"In the second inning he had a mild groin pull in his right groin," Manuel said. "He was determined he was going to stay in there.

"He said he hurt it when he tried to hump up on [Buster] Posey in the second inning. He was determined he was going to stay in the game. He wanted to try it and stay in the game ... He gutted it out and we needed it. I was kidding with him after the game. I said to him, 'When are you going to be able to play? Next year?' He said, 'Five days.'

Halladay pitched six innings and was the winning pitcher in the Phillies' season-saving, 4-2 victory over the Giants in Game 5 tonight in San Francisco.

"We did exactly what we had to do," Manuel said.

"It's about touching home plate as many times as you can," centerfielder Shane Victorino said on Comcast SportsNet after the game. "It's going to be loud [in Game 6 on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park]. It's what it's all about. I think the fans will help push us, being down 3-2 [in the series]. We're not going to worry about Game 7. We have to worry about Game 6 first. We're in the backseat. They [Giants] are in the front seat."

Victorino was pleased with the Phillies' aggressivness on the basepaths in Game 5. "That's what it's all about. Jimmy [Rollins] stole two bases. It's what it's all about."

Echo - you sure that's right? My kids tried it and told me that 1210 is actually ahead of the TV (Verizon FIOS). Two TVs in different rooms (both FIOS, but only one w/DVR) are about 10 seconds apart. Can't stand Wheels either, but McCarver makes me want to scream even more.
