UPDATED: Madson said that he kicked a metal chair in the tunnel after leaving Wednesday's game in San Francisco. He said he is "frustrated" and "embarrassed" to have let the team down.

Madson allowed a run on two hits and a walk in blowing the save in what became a 7-6 Phillies win.

Madson said he was not sure of the timetable for his return, but assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said he expected Madson would be sidelined longer than the 15 days. The Phillies intend to send him on a rehab assignment and they want to make sure he is 100 percent so he does not hurt his arm.

Meanwhile, Brad Lidge walks into this development and said he is ready to close, if needed. Lidge is being activated from the DL for the first time this season.

EARLIER:

The shuffling in the Phillies' bullpen continues.

On the day the Phillies will activate Brad Lidge for the first time this season, the team placed Ryan Madson on the disabled list with a broken right big toe.

Madson suffered the injury after his appearance in Wednesday's game against San Francisco.

Madson is 1-0 with four saves but a 7.00 earned run average in nine games this season.

The Phillies recalled lefthander Antonio Bastardo from Triple A Lehigh Valley. Bastardo was to be sent down to make room for Lidge.

One down next up is Roy "FrontRunner" Halladay and Cole" Mr. Softie" Hamels. Time to let the young guns take over in Bastardo and the future Hall of Famer David Herndon. Wolf Out!

Excuses excuses, he has not come close to the form of 08. What we have witnessed with him recently is the real deal. 08 was a fluke.

Tough blow, but not a killer. Durbin seems like the best candidate to replace him now that Lidge is back (cross your fingers).

So is Lidge closing right away now, or do we get Baez?
