It's been the Johan Santana show here for the most part. Chase Utley went deep on the left-hander last inning to pull the Phillies to within 2-1, but it is the only hit of substance the team has gotten off of Santana all evening. Thus far, the left-hander has 10 strikeouts, his 40th career double-digit game and his first of the season.

Hamels was solid through 7, allowing 2 runs, but ran loaded the bases with no out in the eighth on a Ryan Church single, a David Wright double, and an intentional walk.

The Mets have increased their lead to 4-1 with an RBI groundout by Carlos Delgado and an RBI double by Angel Pagan, both off of J.C. Romero.

No real surprises in the line-up the Phillies have posted for tonight's game against the Mets:

1. RF So Taguchi

2. CF Jayson Werth

3. 2B Chase Utley

4. 1B Ryan Howard

5. LF Pat Burrell

6. 3B Pedro Feliz

7. C Carlos Ruiz

8. SS Eric Bruntlett

9. LHP Cole Hamels

Driving into the stadium today, it appeared as if a long line has already begun to form for the standing room only tickets that the Phillies will release three hours before the game. There will be 500 available. I don't think there were 500 people out there, but if you want to guarantee yourselves tickets, I'd get down there ASAP.

Tune in throughout the game. I'll try to blog periodically.

I'd rather Charlie had Burrell in the cleanup spot and Howard hitting fifth, at least as long as Pat is blazing like he is. Also serves to separate the lefthanded hitters. What do you think?

Matt
I think Ryan Howard sucks and should be traded.

Good teams beat other teams aces.....it should be a moot point. If you can't beat another teams aces you'll never win a World Series no matter how many times you make the playoffs or how many times you lead the league in runs scored.
