Kendrick: I'll be back

A resolute Kyle Kendrick vowed this afternoon that he would be back in the big leagues sooner rather than later. Three times in the first minute of his conversation with reporters in the Phillies clubhouse he said the words, "I'll be back." Though Kendrick admitted he was upset when first informed that he had been optioned to the minors, he later realized the move was for the better.
Kendrick was running a distant third in the competiton for the fifth starter's spot as J.A. Happ and Chan Ho Park put together impressive springs.
"At first, I'm not going to lie, it was surprising," he said. "But at the same time, those guys have been pitching good and they had to make a move, so like I said, I'm going to go work on what I ened to work on, get better and I'll be back.
"I didn't show my offspeed stuff early enough and it was a little erratic at times. It just needs to get better and I know I need to get better.. .I'm going to go down there with a clear mind and get better, and I'll be back."
Good luck dude. He saved us 2 years ago...seems like a good guy- He works hard and wants to be a good pitcher for this team but unfortunately I don't think he has the talent to be a consistent starter in the majors— NEPHILLY215

- Wow...kind of amazing we have more than our share of quality starters that a guy with his big league record gets sent down! It was obvious he was the odd man out but let's hope he rebounds as he came through for us when we needed him last two years.— Clem
