Alright folks, this is what we know:

1) The game will be played whenever the weather breaks, though nobody from Major League Baseball was willing to put a potential time on the thing.

2) Pitching coach Rich Dubee said the Phillies will definitely have a reliever on the mound, not Game 6 starter Brett Myers or anybody else.

3) The Phillies will lead off in the bottom of the sixth pinch-hitting for Cole Hamels, then will proceed to the top of the line-up.

4) Commissioner Bud Selig said he would have suspended the game whether or not the Rays tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth, as they did on Carlos Pena's RBI single that scored B.J. Upton from second. The game would have continued with the Phillies leading 2-1.

5) Tickets for Game 5 will continue to be honored. So don't throw them away.

6) We'll have complete coverage in the paper.

If Hamels goes to the plate and takes one pitch, then is pulled for a pinch hitter, could he still get the win if the Phillies score in the bottom of the 6th and then go on to win.

Despite the delayed suspension, mlb basically called it right. Selig was right to decide that the game was going to go 9 full innings, even if it takes 3-4 days. No rain shortened game should decide a World Championship. While the last half inning was truly dangerous and let the Rays tie the game, think of it as the baseball gods squaring up on the blown call on Rollins going back to 3 in game 4. We actually set up pretty well pitching wise with only 9 outs to go, as opposed to 12 or 15. Relax, we will be fine. Play 3.5 or 21.5 innings and bring us a parade.

I'm rooting for the rain now - the longer this game gets pushed back, the more of a chance we'll have to start Hamels in a (gulp) game 7 if necessary.

to be fair, they should have suspended the game at the beginnning of the sizth inning. Selig and his people blew it. However, to be fair, they should play Wednesday, which they will (since it is already determined that they will not play Tuesday) and have the travel day on thursday. That way, if it does go 7 games, the Phils can have a "dry and rested" Hamels on the mound. It would not matter who the Rays send out.

one way to solve this, is to schedule the games in the best interests of the game, meaning the players and fans, etc. and NOT in the best interests of TV (meaning late night starts, etc. and playing in terrible conditions.) They would have called this game before it even started if it were the regular season.

God hates philly. he gave us the declaration of independence, ben franklin, UPenn, the liberty bell... and no more. we'll be forced to live forever with no titles for our teams and endless bloodshed from animalistic thugs running roughshod over the city.

Here is what the so called great starting pitching staff of the Rays has done over 5 games. Game #1 Kazmir, 6 IP, 109 pitches … Game #2 Shields 5 2/3 IP, 100 pitches … Game #3 Garza 6 IP, 102 pitches … Game #4 Sonnanstine 4 IP, 88 pitches … Game #5 Kazir, 4 IP, 103 pitches. Yet all you hear about is how bad the Phils are doing with RISP. I think the Phils are doing a fantastic job of getting their starting pitching out of the game while plating enough runs to win the game. Also not making it past the 6th inning here in Philly makes you an innings eater.
