In case you missed it, here are some excerpts from Raul Ibanez's interview on Daily News Live, where I tried to get a clearer picture of the status of his strained groin.

Neither Ibanez nor the Phillies will guesstimate the length of his absence, but both said an MRI revealed nothing serious.

Here are the transcripts, courtesy of John Finger's intern.

Now that I think about it, I need an intern.

On how he is feeling:

“I’m feeling better, of course I haven’t done anything. I expect to continue to get better, continue to progress. They found some inflammation. It’s getting better, the staff here is phenomenal, it’s getting better and I expect to be out there.”

On what he can do while out of the line up:
“You go through at bats with guys, you try to encourage guys. If you can find anything or see anything that can help anybody you try and become a part of it that way. More than anything you really have to stay involved mentally. The great thing about here is what a team to watch. I haven’t had the opportunity to really sit there and watch very many games and the two times that I’ve been there I would pay to watch these guys play, it’s unbelievable to be a part of. Watching these guys play definitely makes it easier and of course you’re heavily involved because you care about your teammates and they care about you too.”

On what he’s been doing to rehab:
“The way that I look at it, I just go after it every day. You try and get a little better everyday, you don’t try to do it all at once. If you get a little bit better every day, if you get 5% better every day, 15 days from now your 75%, hopefully I had 25% in the tank and that’ll make 100%.”

How he feels about it, optimistic?:
“By nature, I’m optimistic. Any time you have any injury, whatever your conditioning was before that, if you’re in good physical shape, I think that only helps you”

“It will also give me an opportunity to get all the other things strong and the way that I’m looking at it, later on in the season, I’ll look back on it and it’ll be two weeks off and I’ll be two weeks fresher.”

If a guy is on the DL, does his salary count towards the active payroll? Is it paid by the Phils or by health insurance?

Best rabbit Gillick pulled out of his hat was hands down Lidge. Plus Ibanez is Rube's signing.

Some J.O trying to be clever. Unfortunately for him/her, they are wrong. You can be tested while on the DL. So instead of just being stupid, they are wrong and stupid
