Hoover made a brief but valuable contribution to the big league club in May, when injuries to Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schneider forced him into action during a three-game series in Milwaukee. During that set, Hoover went 5-for-10 with two doubles, three walks, two RBI and six runs scored. He spent September with the Phillies and travelled with the team during the postseason, although he was not on the playoff roster.
