Hamels to start Grapefruit League opener (with complete pitching schedule)

This morning, Rich Dubee unveiled the pitching schedule for the first seven Grapefruit League games, starting with Cole Hamels against the Yankees. Five of the first seven games will be televised in the Philadelphia market. 

The Phillies play an exhibition game today against Florida State. Among the intriguing young pitchers scheduled to compete are Austin Hyatt, Jake Diekman and Phillippe Aumont.

The complete schedule for the first week:

Saturday, March 3, vs. Yankees

Pitchers: LHP Cole Hamels, RHP Dave Bush, RHP Jonathan Papelbon, RHP Dontrelle Willis, LHP Raul Valdez, RHP Mike Stutes.

TV: Comcast SportsNet, MLB Network

Sunday, March 4, at Yankees

Pitchers: RHP Roy Halladay, RHP Joel Pineiro, LHP David Purcey, LHP Antonio Bastardo, RHP Phillippe Aumont

TV: MLB Network 

Monday, March 5 vs. Yankees

    Thanks for the info, Murph...i'll get to see Cole on Thursday in Clearwater and Doc Friday in Lakeland...Can't wait for some baseball (and some Florida weather)...GO PHILLIES!!

    Hope this foreshadows the season. Would love to see Hamels in the 1, followed by Halladay and Lee to mix it up this year...

    Cole is not # 1. Hopefully he still holds the 1b position and pitches 3rd. I think the Phillies have made it clear he will never be the #1. They will go out and sign someone else before they give it to him. Leave in FA, Cole. Please!
