Phillies lefthander Cole Hamels has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 13, with left shoulder inflammation.

Hamels is eligible to come off the DL on Sunday and is scheduled to start the Phillies' series opener in Cincinnati on Monday. He had been scheduled to start Friday, so this pushes him back three days.

Hamels last pitched on Aug. 12 against Washington at Citizens Bank Park.

There is no indication that he has a setback. With the off day Thursday before a weekend series against Florida, the Phillies are expected to move up the rotation with Roy Oswalt on Friday, Roy Halladay on Saturday and Cliff Lee on Sunday.

Hamels, 27, is 13-7 with two complete games and a 2.62 ERA in 25 starts for the Phillies this season.

Peter Orr was recalled from Triple A Lehigh Valley. He has hit .271 with five home runs and 25 RBI in 68 games for Lehigh Valley in 2011. This marks the third stint of the season with the Phillies for Orr, who made the club’s Opening Day roster. In his 29 games for the Phillies, Orr has hit .238 with three RBI.

The move provides a bit more flexibility and depth off the bench for the Phillies through the weekend.
