Good morning.

Up and at 'em since 6:30 this morning.

Light breeze, forecast high of 82.

Day game in St. Petersburg against the Rays today.

Here's how we're looking:

1) Hamels: Yesterday was one of those rare spring training performances that was enjoyable to lean back and watch. Cole Hamels was splendid, throwing 74 pitches, 16 of 21 first-pitch strikes, striking out seven, and remaining perfect through 4 2/3. Here's the complete lowdown from today's paper. If Hamels can just stay healthy for an entire season, there's no telling how dominant he can be.

2) Today: Jamie Moyer gets the start against the Rays.

3) Tomorrow: Adam Eaton and Brad Lidge will both pitch minor league games. Kendrick will start the major league game. Lidge will be in St. Petersburg. Eaton will be at home.

4) Scott Mathieson: Ran into him today at the Carpenter Complex. He said he'll likely remain in Florida for a month before reporting to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in May.

5) More later. Stay tuned.

Even though he's recovering, I think Mathieson could help the team by midseason. He can't be worse than Rosario, Castro, that fat load Zagurski or Tater Gordon.
