It's the home opener, and from what I here, the Phillies are going all out for the pre-game ceremony.

Here's the line-up:

  1. Jimmy Rollins SS
  2. Jason Donald 3B
  3. Raul Ibanez LF
  4. Ryan Howard DH
  5. John Mayberry RF
  6. Greg Dobbs 1B
  7. Brian Giles 2B
  8. Jason Ellison CF
  9. Carlos Ruiz C

Mayberry had an RBI in yesterday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates. So did Raul Ibanez, who drove in Rollins with a base hit in the third inning.

I just hope that putting Ibanez 3rd isnt the way it is going to be during the season. I am hoping that with Utley, Werth, and Victorino in the lineup, Ibanez would be batting 5th, or even better 5th. I am really looking forward to this year of baseball; maybe for the first time since the early 80's have I been this excited :)

When did we sign Marcus overweight brother Brian to play 2nd base?

Is Ibanez that much better than Garrett Anderson? Anderson career vs LHP: .291 in 2,408 AB. .299 in 5,581 AB vs RHP. Ibanez vs LHP: .268 in 1,270 AB and .293 in 3,521 AB vs RHP. Ibanez had 23 HR 110 RBI in 635 ABs last year. Anderson had 15 HR 84 RBI in 557 AB. Anderson only played 82 games in the field, but cant be worse than Ibanez. Im not seeing how Ibanez gets $11 mill per and Anderson signs for $2.5 mill

he's there only in case Chase can't go, or to be the RH bat off the bench if he finds his stroke

93 phils i hear ya but remember Ibanez was an early signing and is the best option. Anderson was an economy left over signing so hard to say what he would have got if he signed earlier (or had the demand that Ibanez had)..

Why are you so worried about Ibanez batting 3rd in Spring Training? Utley's not playing, so Ibanez 3rd makes the most sense right now. It's only Spring Training. Ibanez will go back to the 5th spot come regular season, Charlie is not gonna mess with our first 4 spots in the lineup...Welcome to the infield Brian Giles! haha!

Typing in all caps is great dude, keep it up. Pay is scaled to both performance and service time, so comparing Eaton and Hamels is pointless since their service times are way different. But on the plus side we did get ourselves an "RBI MACHINE."

I hope Donald plays 3B all year at AAA so he can be ready for next year!

Murph, looking for a full report on how Donald looks at 3rd. And how did he look yesterday? Also any early work on Coste-Paulino? Keep it up, and don't let the haters get you down on that James Bond like banner.
