All six of the Phillies’ major league coaches have agreed to contracts for the 2012 season, the Phillies announced today.

Mick Billmeyer (bullpen), Rich Dubee (pitching), Greg Gross (hitting), Pete Mackanin (bench), Sam Perlozzo (first base) and Juan Samuel (third base), along with bullpen catcher Jesus Tiamo, will resume their respective positions.

“I couldn’t be happier to have the whole staff back for another season,” Manuel said in a statement. “Their dedication and work ethic speak for themselves and they were a huge part of our 102 wins.”

Billmeyer, 47, is the longest-tenured member of the coaching staff after joining it in 2004 as the major league catching instructor.

The 2012 season will be his ninth with the Phillies and the eighth for Dubee, fourth for Mackanin and Perlozzo, third for Gross and second for Samuel.

You're "fandom" is a joke. Remember a guy named Jim Fergosi, Terry Francona, or Larry Bowa in Philly? Probably not, because it's pretty apparent you've hopped on this team's bandwagon over the past 5 years.

This team responds in an above average way to Charlie's coaching. You don't win 102 games and 5 straight NL Championships on auto pilot. Period.

Please name me another time in the past 100 years with this amount of sustained success under another coach in Philadelphia, or anywhere else in the MLB not named NY or Boston - there sure as hell won't be any in Philly and the other guys are few and far between.

The hitting instructions for the Phillies are to take the first 2 pitches and then swing at next pitch in the dirt. The team instructions are to extend other team pitchers but the only problem is they get 2 strikes and the hitters swing at garbage.

Lowering the expectations and not wanting to "rock-the-boat". That's the reaction from Upper management to this season's post season collapse?? At one point is the manager held accountable for the results?? Highest payroll in the league- best starting rotation - several gold gloves - he was given the tools and under-performed.

After 2007, Gillick saw the need for Cholly to get real coaching assistnce. Enter Lopes and Williams. Since both left...deminishing returns with better quality players. Ironic? I think not.

Charlie is an idiot. He laid down three of the last four series of the year. Then played hard against the Braves. That was smart. Let the hot team get in the playoffs. Dope. Wasted my hard earned money and time this year. All so he can suck up to Tony LaRussa by "playing the game the right way". Yeah I'm pissed off. They earned the option to lay off the pedal the last series by winning 102 games. (I bought 60 tickets this year) I will not go to anymore games until they get a real manager.

Phillllni, give those managers you mentioned the players Charlie has or had and you'll see the difference. At least those guys tried to manage and didn't sit in the dugout chewing gum waiting for the players to bail them out. Please. Look at what Francona did in Boston, 2 WS in 8 years. And BTW, he was forced to resign after they underachieved this year.

" At least those guys tried to manage"

I guess you don't remember the 1993 World Series.

"He was lucky he got a great core of players"

Oh wait, you were referring to Charlie, not Francona.

BTW, I came to Philly in '79 and became a fan right way, FYI. Even went to the game two of 1980 WS. Carlton vs. Larry Gura.

I was hoping Charlie would have stepped aside and let the Phillies change their approach. Charlie has become too buddy - buddy with a few key players and he is going to sink or swin with them.
The promised changes will never come.
The next thing you can expect is Rollins coming back.
    Disappointing news !

From the time Utley joined the team in May, the Phillies had the highest-scoring offense in the NL.

I don't know if Gross is doing a good job or not, but it makes no sense to make personnel decisions based on one game. If they had lost the last game 7-6 there wouldn't be any talk about their hitting.

Their offense isn't perfect (no team's is), but when Martinez and Valdez are on the bench it's one of the best in baseball.

Manuel, Dubee and Gross all stink. There are other words for them but I'd never get posted. The 3 of them just stink out loud.

Nothing will change until they hire a new manager. These players are too comfortable and complacent under Charlie Manuel. One can easily make the argument that this team has underperformed for two years now. They had better personnel than the Giants last year and lost, and they have better personnel than the Cards this year and lost. The team needs a manager that will make these players uncomfortable. They all say the right things about achieving their goals but don't do the things necessary to win. 102 wins is nice, but you get no ring for having the best record. The Cardinals beat us with players named Jay, Freese, Theriot, Craig etc., who don't have the big contracts but play sound fundamental baseball in the field and at bat. Nothing will change until Charlie is gone.
