Tomorrow's game against the Blue Jays will carry with it a little more intrigue than an ordinary Grapefruit League tilt. That's because the Phillies are scheduled to face a young Toronto righthander named Kyle Drabek.

Sound familiar?

Drabek, of course, was the centerpiece of the three-prospect-package the Phillies sent to Toronto for Roy Halladay in December.

"It'll be interesting," pitching coach Rich Dubee said.

Interesting, because less than a year ago Drabek started the Phillies' Grapefruit League finale against the Yankees. Interesting, because Drabek was supposed to be one of the few "untouchables" in the Phillies' farm system. Interesting, because he could end up facing top Phillies prospect Domonic Brown, who in December thought he would end up going to Toronto along with Drabek.

Lefthander Cole Hamels is scheduled to start the game for the Phillies. Drabek is scheduled to pitch second for the Blue Jays.

Drabek has appeared in one game this spring, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three in two innings.

He is no longer someone we root for. He is an enemy.

Not that we need any justification for landing Halladay, but torching Drabek tomorrow will make the deal even sweeter and Rube will feel better! Phils beat braves 7-4!

C'mon, gotta wish that young man the best. Was looking forward to seeing him pitch, to see if he was anything like his dad, who wasn't too shabby in his time. So guess now I'll look forward to seeing Doc pitch, hopefully for several great years.

Except for Polanco, the Phils will be swinging for the fences on every pitch. As long as Drabek has location, I'm sure he'll get a load of K's tomorrow. And why do I even care about this team that had the chance to have the best rotation in baseball and gave it up, cuz they were too cheap?

Why would anyone feel a need to root against Drabek? He's an American League pitcher who we'll probably never face. Wish that guy the best.

Drabek is a year older than Ramirez, so comparing their performances against big leaguers during the same spring training is silly. It isn't apples-to-apples. Drabek is the better prospect overall, but most experts agree that Ramirez is still a pretty good prospect too. Most of the Phillies fans who trash Ramirez don't really know anything about him.

sil, Ramirez and Aumont have gotten drilled at eveyr lelve they have pitched. At one point do we keep calling them great prospects with upside, as opposed to looking at thier actual performance against guys that are at the same level. And I don't see anything wrong with rooting against Drabek. He is pitching for the other team, right?

Hey, phasor... it was always Lee OR Halladay, not both. If Lee showed more interest initially at signing long-term, we would have signed him and not traded for Halladay. Once we traded for Halladay and signed HIM long-term, Lee was gone. That being said, the starting staff is better with Halladay. Get over this notion that we ever would have had both this year.
