Down go the Phillies
David Murphy, Daily News Staff Writer
It lasted just two hours, 18 minutes, but it was long enough to knock the Phillies out of first place for the first time since May 31. J.C. Romero allowed a two-run, two-out double to Carlos Delgado in the eighth inning and Billy Wagner recorded his second straight save to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.
The Mets are alone in first place for the first time since mid-April, and the Phillies are in second place for the first time since the end of May.
Should be an interesting final couple months of the season. . .
Stay tuned for more. . .

This team has no plate patience at all..how about taking some pitches? Howard is overrated, Rollins is playing what his career stats say he is, average hitter, great fielder, Utley looks lost, Thank God I live in Atlanta where they could care less about baseball..I have always been a die hard Philly fan, but like the Eagles, the Phillies refuse to make the big move to try and win it all..even if they make the playoffs they are done against the Cubs or Brewers with their staffs...oh well..college football is almost here..GGGGOOOO GATORS! flgatoralum97
I had to finally join the site due to my increasing madness with this team! The has been truly unbelievable to watch. They have no clue right now and their confidence is lost. They should all be held accountable. Utley, Howard, and Rollins have been atrocious. And the MVP shows up late to the ballpark?!! Who's crappin' who? We live and die for these guys and they show zero sense of urgency. I am fed up! Our pitching has been very manageable, and we countinue to not produce. Ruiz, Jenkins shouldn't be on a ML roster. I am afraid that the train has come off the tracks. LF

ematusko--Don't feel bad for Utley, he is one of the ones not hitting right now. Spending money for better pitchers? Hamels gives up to runs against the Marlins, Myers gives up 3 runs, and Moyer gives up 1 run against the Mets, and you want to spend money on better pitching? Come back to me when we actually start hitting. All of those games should have been won... phigglesfan75- Rollins shows up late. Utley looks unispired for the 4th game in a row. Outside of Victorino and Werth, the fight is gone from the Phightens. Pull the trade with Colorado. delravio
Yes, Down go the Phils, toward the .500 level where they have been heading for over a month and where they seem to feel most comfortable. atp2007
wow at phigglesfan75 "all those games should have been won..."? how so? santana's game should have been a win but somehow luckily ya scored 6 in the 9th to win it, maine who's been struggling outdeuled myers and oliver perez just threw a gem of a game, which afterwards it comes to bullpen. mets are just overall has superior pitching than phillies, not to mention we dont have alou and church to depthen our lineup yunggeh
