Condrey to disabled list

POSTED: Monday, June 22, 2009, 10:52 PM

The Phillies battered bullpen will take another hit tomorrow, when the Phillies plan to place righthander Clay Condrey on the disabled list with a strained oblique. One of the team's most reliable arms for the first two months of the season, Condrey has pitched just twice since June 13. In those two outings, he has allowed six earned runs while recording just one out.

Lefthander Sergio Escalona is expected to be called up to replace Condrey.

Left handed bench players, catchers and pitchers. The team has no discipline an when players err they should be set down. How can you field a team with lead off playersat .215 and dropping, pitchers failing to hold runners. They expect there pitchers not to go more than 5-6 innings, even in the minors!!

And in both of those games, those runs he surrendered were instrumental in the Phillies losing. It would have been nice to have shut him down BEFORE throwing away a few more games!

he stinks anyway honestly. Yes its an arm, but he has less than impressive stuff and has been lucky all season.

Condrey has ben pretty reliable since joining the team. Starters need to throw more innings, Rollins needs to hit,Coste and/or Bruntlett need to go for some righthanded power

At least Beltran is now going to the DL. Condrey has done a great job this year, with the exception of the last two appearances, in which he was probably pitching while injured. Clay has worked his way up in the pen the last few years. I might be lucky.........I get to see the PHILLIES in person the next three games, ON THE ROAD in St. Pete. Better chance to win! Hopefully the Rays will continue to worry about the Threshers Bobbleheads instead of the PHILLIES.

Can't we like trade Condrey and two minor leaguers for 3 additional road games?
