Lot of stuff going on with the Phillies here today, and an ex-Phillie is making news as well. Cliff Lee was ejected from a spring training game today for allegedly throwing at the head of Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder. Early in the game, Lee and Snyder collided near home plate as Lee was backing up a throw.

According to the Associated Press story, Lee threw an inside pitch with two out, then followed it up with a pitch over Snyder's head. Snyder walked toward the mound, and both benches emptied, although there were no punches thrown. Lee was eventually ejected, while Snyder remained in the game.

"I was trying to go inside and a couple got away from me and the guy hitting got mad and came close to the mound and I got thrown out of the game in the process," Lee said, according to the AP. "That's it in a nutshell."

Snyder's teammate, Mark Reynolds, labelled the actions "bush league."

"We were hitting him around a little bit and the next pitch was just uncalled for in that situation," Snyder said, according to the AP. "It's spring training. We've got a lot of young kids in the lineup just swinging the bats. If you're going to hit somebody, just stay below the waist. Don't headhunt. Don't do any of that. It's a bad reputation to have. It's bush league. Stuff like that doesn't need to happen anytime, especially in spring training."

Here's the story:

Poor Cliff has obviously had a breakdown from his abrupt trade from the Phils. It's your fault, Rube. Get him back before someone gets hurt.

Cliff Lee sucks.. tried to play hardball with Phils, so Phils went out and got best pitcher in baseball and told him to beat... this is the 2 time NL champs Cliff... dont try to be tough... you shoulda saw you had a good thing and took less money like Roy did... and you'd still be here... oh well... Cliff will be 12-12 this yr with a 4.2 era... Halladay 20-7 with a 2.4.. Hamels 17-10 with a 3.3... sorry Cliffy... enjoy Seattle!!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The Phillies would be World Champs with Lee this year. Can anyone say Phillippe Aumont?

You can take Lee out of Philly but you can't take the Philly out of Lee. Him doing that yesterday makes me miss him even more. You're 100% right jrquixote, Phils would be making parade plans already with Lee in our rotation.

power808...did you also miss how he got lit up during the game he got ejected? The dude is in for a rough year. 270+ innings has a way of taking a toll the next year.

And the loser Lee cannot pitch on 3 days rest, that is why we lost the WS last year. CC pitched on 3 days rest and Lee did not.
