Dave Murphy has the day off; Marcus Hayes is at the controls of High Cheese:
The pregame buzz in the clubhouses and in the stands at the Bank concerned today's matchup between Tim Lincecum, a slight, 23-year-old righthander with a distinctive delivery, a nasty fastball and a freezing curve, and Cole Hamels, the Phillies' 24-year-old All-Star lefty with the killer changeup.
The Phillies certainly recall Lincecum's ballyhooed debut 365 days ago (leap year, eh); a no-decision, 4 1/3 innings, five earned runs, five strikeouts, standing ovation from the home crowd.
The next day, Hamels beat the Giants ... and gushed at how he and Lincecum were good for a game then still sullied by the continued steroid scandal. (Barry Bonds did not face Hamels that day; Roger Clemens was still on his extended off-season routine).
