UPDATED: The Phillies announced that Kyle Kendrick will start Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Joe Blanton will be making his first start of the season Monday night against  St. Louis.

Blanton, on the disabled list for the first time in his career, has been sidelined since suffering a left oblique strain during spring training.

Blanton threw 67 pitches, walked one, and struck out two and allowed two home runs in five innings of a rehab assignment for Double A Reading on Wednesday.

The Phillies will have to make a roster move before the game. The most likely options are reliever Antonio Bastardo or starter Kyle Kendrick, because the Phillies are still listing TBA for Wednesday night, which would be Kendrick's turn in the rotation.
