Blanton to start Game 4

Cliff Lee will not come back to pitch Game 4 on three days' rest.
Instead, Joe Blanton will get the call on Sunday night against the Yankees at Citizens Bank Park.
Lee has never pitched on three days' rest in his career, but seemed confident he could. He threw 122 pitches in his masterful Game 1 victory on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Blanton started Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers and gave up four runs in six innings. He had pitched out of the bullpen in the Division Series.
Blanton won Game 4 against Tampa Bay last year, allowing two runs over six innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. He also bashed a home run.

Sorry, but this is a BAD FREAKIN decision. Aces are there to start three games if necessary in a World Series. Blanton might well come thru (assuming Cole does too), the bats might wake back up (hello Ryan, Pedro--we miss you guys!) but you maximize likelihood of victory with the top guy on the mound as much as reasonably possible. Not much point to saving him for game 6 or 7 if you dont get that far (although the thought of Pedro winning game 7 in NYC is pretty damn good!). Go Phils!!— Rando- The Yanks are crazy to give the Phillies lineup two lefties in a row, I don't care who they are. The stats show good hitters connect when seeing the same side more than once. Manuel and Dubee have confidence in their pitching staff and will keep the Yanks off balance Left Right Left. Getting to the Yanks bullpen will set off fireworks in South Philly.— charladan
