The Phillies are not "better." The only way they got "better" after 2008 was by trading away more top prospects than other teams were willing to give up (for guys like Halladay, Lee, Pence and Oswalt). The GM has made mistake after mistake after mistake. The Pence and Oswalt deals were disasters. Signing Howard when he did will haunt us for years to come. He hasn't broughtin one good young player since he has been the GM. He has signed all the wrong guys. He didn't even go after Aramis Ramirez or A. Beltre. He signed Wigginton, Nix and Thome, kept Michael Martinez, and let talented young guys walk. He failed to replace Werth (the clock is still ticking on that failure - as Werth still has not been replaced). They could be "better" if they were a little healthier - but they have an aging team. Injuries have to be expected. Copper34
They are better if............
Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Doc Halladay are healthy at the start of the season and stay healthy.
That would add 15 to 20 games over last year.
That probably will get them at least a wild card position.
Anxious to see if Ruf and Brown can be everyday players. That would be a huge bonus for this team. candidly
