Anyone else intrigued by this series?
It's about 9 a.m. here on the Left Coast, which means it's getting to be lunch time back there. From what I understand, I picked a good day to fly out. It's beautiful out here - high 70's, blue skies, no humidity. I could get used to this.

I didn't get a chance to watch any of the game yesterday since I was in the process of driving from San Diego to Los Angeles. I'm not sure what to make of the Brad Lidge thing - it's never a good sign when your closer has any type of soreness in his shoulder. But it sounds like neither Lidge nor Charlie Manuel think it will be a big deal. Utley's home run was a big one. You can talk about Jimmy Rollins all you want, but if this team is going to live up to its potential, I think the biggest key is getting the second baseman back on track. He's a career .300 hitter with runners in scoring position, but this year he's below .250. He was 0-for-4 with RISP in the loss to the Pirates Friday night. I think if Utley starts hitting the way he can, you could see this team score some runs in a hurry.

I'm intrigued by this series. The Dodgers are down right now. They're coming off two straight losses to the Giants and have lost four of their last six overall. Tonight, it's Kendrick versus Derek Lowe. With an awful San Diego team coming up, if the Phils can win two or three versus L.A., they could easily come back from this road trip having won seven or eight of their last nine.

Dave: Thanks for teh post. Its nice to see at least one of the phillies beat writers doing their job. jeff gross
at least he posted, unlike Todd jeff gross
The Dodgers are interesting, Dave. They really think they're going to catch Arizona, but they don't quite have all the pieces in place. Plus, Larry Bowa in Dodger Blue. LOL! Mike H.
They were lucky in the series. They played like crap. We were lucky we were playing the Bucs, we should have got swept. Play like that against LA and we are done. Beef69
I can't wait to see Manny rake against this pitching staff and then listen to phillies brass tell me how they didn't have a spot for Manny because the team has Geoff Jenkins. This offense has serious holes in it. The team is begging for a jolt and Manny is instant coffee. The fact that I have to watch Jenkins period is an embarrassment. Manny could have been had for J.A. Happ, Joe Savery and a throw-in. Ridiculous. goawayfavre
The Phillies never play well on the west coast; especially against the Dodgers. Expect to lose all three. They'll wish they never heard of Manny. GANick
I always get intrigued when a mediocre team like the dodgers aren't playing well, and a mediocre team like the phillies aren't playing well, and then they both don't play well on the same field together. I am also intrigued by bathroom floor tile patterns, Bill O'Reilly and televised Golf. Frank Lloyd Wrong
"Manny could have been had for J.A. Happ, Joe Savery and a throw-in." What? No he couldn't... not even close. I don't know what you're smoking over there, but pass it on. danielswolf
Well, Zo is doing his job not Murph. After all, he did watch the game yesterday. He didn't take an early vacation to LA before the team got there. You would think Murph has been a beat writer for this team for the last 15+ years from the priveleges he thinks he is owed... CyHamels
GA Nick - it's a 4 game series and Phils play just fine out west. doorspj24
Yeah I distinctly remember last year the Phils tore up the west coast and their first trip out there this year wasn't so bad. Maybe getting away will get them on the right track and give them a chance to put some distance between the Mets & Fish...One can always hope DaFranchise
Dunn to the D-Backs. Beef69
Um, yeah, last year the Phils hit .339 in Dodger Stadium and .293 in San Diego. D-backs have three against Florida remaining. Mike H.- CyHamels - You're right. Life is beautiful out here. Only thing i'm missing is someone to feed me grapes while I sit by the pool. . .Interested?
